Unity is what will give us victory, Barde tells PDP

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe state, Muhammad Jibrin Barde, has said the party’s strength as  opposition in the state is its unity, making it clear that the victory of the party lies solely on the unity of it members.

He stated this yesterday during his tour to ward chapters of the party in Shongom local government. “This movement is a journey of self determination. It is not about me or any other individual; it is about Gombe state. We must remain united and work as one family towards our victory. Unity is what will give us victory” he stated.

He said “as a loyal and committed party man” whose interest was to ensure the party returns to power in the state come 2023, was using the window given by the election umpire for intending aspirants to make consultation with party officials and stakeholders, to visit the 114 wards across the state to interact with party men and preach unity among them.

He maintained that the task ahead of them as a party is a great one and therefore tasked party officials, stakeholders and supporters to role up their sleeves and struggle hard to ensure the party’s ultimate goal in the forthcoming elections is attained. He further stressed the need for all to contribute their part no matter how little in promoting the party and its ideals.

Expressing his worry over the situation Gombe state has found itself in under the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Barde described the economy of the state under APC as “shamble” which has negatively affected the living standard of people in the state and created more unemployed youth and women. He described the situation as “worrisome” and called on well meaning citizens of the state to join the struggle for rescuing the state from a leadership that “robs the destiny of the people of Gombe.”

In his welcome address at the commencement of the tour in Filiya ward, the local government Chairman of the party, Hon. Umar Abubakar Sola, conveyed the appreciation of the party in the local government for the series of activities being carried on by Barde which he said have been encouraging and motivating them and the party followers. And assured him of their continued support to his cause.

While at Kushi ward, a member of the PDP Elders Forum at the state level and former permanent commissioner, State Civil Service Commission, Hon. Samuel Amos Audu (Sarkin Yakin Kushi), blessed the movement and declared his unflinching support to the aspiration of Barde on behalf of the people of Kushi ward. “You have come to PDP’s home.
