Demolition: Governor Inuwa Threatening Fragile Security Situation In Gombe, Says PDP Guber Candidate, Barde

Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya has been accused of threatening the relative peace in Gombe using state apparatus to intimidate and harass the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This was contained in a statement signed by the PDP governorship candidate, Muhammad Jibrin Barde on Friday, calling on security agencies to rein in on the governor who is obviously in fear of being voted out in the next election.

The PDP however urged the Governor to obey court orders and desist from further attempt to destroy its campaign office.

The statement reads in parts”:Our attention is drawn to the increased attacks by the Gombe state government to our campaign office and other apparatus of our party by agents purportedly sent by the state government.

“The first was done by an agency of government Gombe state Urban Development Agency allegedly under the directive of one Capt. Bilal.

“After violating the court order issued on the eighteenth of march the agency thus went ahead to demolish the front row of the campaign office, we had then covered the demolished part and then instituted a contempt proceeding and awaiting determination from the courts.

“Asides the attacks on our offices we have noticed with dismay the way and manner these agents avoided the state governor campaign office and objects showing a motive that is divisive and partisan.

“We bring this notice to the general public and call on the state government to obey the court orders and restrain from attacking our offices as we take necessary measures to secure our offices.

“We call on security agencies to caution governor Inuwa Yahaya and ensure that the activities of the state governor does not lead to degenerating the fragile security situation in the state.

“We call on our supporters to be calm as our campaign remains firm and resolute to deliver our promises to the people and make our state great again.”
